ADN Telecom is set to form joint ventures with South Korean companies to assemble and supply electric three-wheelers in Bangladesh, amid the growing popularity of electric vehicles. The publicly traded IT and telecommunication services provider has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with South Korea's CND Motors Co Ltd and PBS Co Ltd to provide "smart mobility solutions" in the country. The agreements have three key targets - assembling and supplying electric three-wheelers, introducing intelligent traffic management and AI-based traffic signal solutions, and implementing a solar streetlight installation project, the company said in a stock exchange filing on Sunday.

The price of palm oil has been proposed to increase to Tk 160 from Tk 150 per litre. The country's foreign exchange reserves rose further on Sunday, reaching US$30.59 billion, according to data released by the Bangladesh Bank (BB). Measured under the International Monetary Fund's Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual, Sixth Edition (BPM6), the reserves stood at $25.75 billion, the central bank said. Just three days earlier, on Thursday, reserves were reported at $30.57 billion in gross terms and $25.67 billion under the BPM6 standard. The Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) Captain Nikolas has finally resumed unloading at Chattogram port after being stranded for nearly 11 months. The delay cost its Iranian owners over $15 million in fixed costs and port dues, plus several million more in compensation, wiping out almost two-thirds of the cargo's value.The ship, owned by an Iranian company, has been stranded since 13 October last year, when it caught fire while offloading LPG into a lighter vessel near Kutubdia. Although the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (Beza) launched an ambitious plan in 2016 to build three tourism parks across nearly 11,000 acres in Cox's Bazar, nine years later, none are operational, one has been scrapped, and there are no clear completion timelines. High prices of potatoes in 2022-2023 encouraged farmers around the country to increase cultivation of potatoes in 2024-2025 season. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Sunday launched a new software called Tax Representative Management System (TRMS) to facilitate smooth and hassle-free online submission of income tax returns through authorised tax representatives. Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed inaugurated the system at the NBR Multipurpose Hall. Developed jointly by NBR’s income tax officials and IT programmers, the software is designed to digitise the taxpayer representation process and ensure greater efficiency and accountability in tax administration. According to NBR, authorised representatives—empowered by taxpayers under the Income Tax Act—will be able to file returns online through TRMS after registering in the system. To appoint a representative, a taxpayer must authorise them by providing a one-time password (OTP) received on their biometric-registered mobile phone.
