ভারতের ভূখণ্ড ব্যবহার করে তৃতীয় দেশের সঙ্গে বাংলাদেশের পণ্য রফতানির সুবিধা ট্রান্সশিপমেন্ট বাতিলে কোনো প্রভাব পড়েনি দেশের একমাত্র চতুর্দেশীয় স্থলবন্দর পঞ্চগড়ের বাংলাবান্ধায়। অন্যান্য দিনের মতো গতকালও এ শুল্ক স্টেশন দিয়ে আমদানি-রফতানি কার্যক্রম স্বাভাবিক ছিল। নেপাল ও ভুটান থেকে বোল্ডার পাথর, সুগার মোলাসিস, অর্গানিক রঙসহ বিভিন্ন পণ্য এসেছে। ৪৩টি পণ্যবাহী ট্রাকে এক হাজার ২৪০ টন পণ্য আমদানি করা হয়। বাংলাদেশ থেকে পাটের কাঁচামাল, আলু, টিস্যু পেপারসহ ২২টি ট্রাকে ৪৮৩ টন পণ্য গেছে নেপা

বৈশ্বিক বাণিজ্যে দেশের এসএমই খাতের উদ্যোক্তাদের পণ্য রফতানি সম্প্রসারণে দক্ষতা উন্নয়নে সিঙ্গাপুরের সহযোগিতার আহ্বান জানান তাসকীন আহমেদ। একই সঙ্গে বাংলাদেশের পাট ও কৃষি খাতের আধুনিকায়নে সিঙ্গাপুরের প্রযুক্তিগত সহায়তার ওপর জোরারোপ করেন ঢাকা চেম্বার সভাপতি। গতকাল ডিসিসিআই গুলশান সেন্টারে সিঙ্গাপুরের হাইকমিশনারের নেতৃত্বে ১২ সদস্যের একটি প্রতিনিধি দলের সঙ্গে দ্বিপক্ষীয় আলোচনায় এ কথা বলেন তাসকীন আহমেদ।

দেশের স্থলভাগে তেল-গ্যাস অনুসন্ধানে বিদ্যমান উৎপাদন বণ্টন চুক্তির (পিএসসি) চূড়ান্ত খসড়া হাতে পেয়েছে পেট্রোবাংলা। যুক্তরাজ্যভিত্তিক পরামর্শক প্রতিষ্ঠান উড ম্যাকেঞ্জিকে দিয়ে করা এ পিএসসি চূড়ান্ত করে দ্রুত তেল-গ্যাস অনুসন্ধানে আন্তর্জাতিক দরপত্র আহ্বানে যেতে চায় পেট্রোবাংলা। পরামর্শক প্রতিষ্ঠানের কাছ থেকে পাওয়া খসড়ার ওপর এরই মধ্যে জ্বালানি বিভাগ গঠিত বিশেষজ্ঞ কমিটি বেশকিছু সংশোধন ও সুপারিশ দিয়েছে। এ সুপারিশ চূড়ান্ত করে জ্বালানি বিভাগে পাঠাবে পেট্রোবাংলা। আইন মন্ত্রণালয়ের ভেটিং ও প্রয়োজনীয় কার্যক্রম আগামী জুনের মধ্যে শেষ হবে। এরপর চূড়ান্ত দরপত্রে যাবে পেট্রোবাংলা।

Bangladesh's upcoming budget may be Tk 7.92 trillion in size, smaller than the current one, as the interim government walks a tightrope amid a subdued trend in revenue earnings and foreign-aid inflow in the present context. Officials give the possible budgeting outlook, saying that this is for the first time Bangladesh is framing a smaller budget compared to the previous one, as the government also takes into consideration slower implementation of the current budget.

The cost of the first investment initiative by the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) to bring water to the capital from the Meghna is set to rise by another Tk 28.28 billion. The Local Government Division (LGD) has submitted the third revision proposal for the project styled 'Dhaka Environmentally Sustainable Water Supply Project' at a cost of Tk 109.75 billion-an increase of 35 per cent from the latest revised estimate of Tk 81.47 billion.

Safe-haven gold gained nearly 2% and surpassed the key $3,200 mark on Friday, spurred by a weaker dollar and recession concerns due to an intensifying trade war between U.S. and China. Spot gold jumped 1.7% to $3,227.39 an ounce, as of 1020 GMT, after hitting a record high of $3,237.56 earlier in the session. Bullion is up over 6% so far this week. U.S. gold futures climbed over 2% to $3,246.30

Green and sustainable finance saw a notable increase during the October-December 2024 quarter. According to the Bangladesh Bank (BB), banks and financial institutions contributed a total of Tk 86.46 billion to green finance in the period, up by Tk 18.49 billion from Tk 67.97 billion in the July-September quarter. The green financing by banks and non-bank financial Institutions (NBFIs) increased by nearly 27.2 per cent during the period under review, BB data shows. Since 2011, the BB has been proactively guiding banks and NBFIs in this regard.
