A local game development start-up called NapTech Labs, which creates online games for internet browsers and mobile devices, has recently been globally recognised as one of the top companies of its kind. It has been placed in the ninth position out of 2,535 listed game developers in the rankings prepared by GoodFirms, a US-based think tank focusing on providing business-to-business (B2B) reviews and ratings. বিদ্যুৎ খাতের তালিকাভুক্ত রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত কোম্পানি ঢাকা ইলেকট্রিক সাপ্লাই কোম্পানি লিমিটেডের (ডেসকো) চলতি ২০২৪-২৫ হিসাব বছরের প্রথম তিন প্রান্তিকে (জুলাই-মার্চ) আয় বেড়েছে সাড়ে ১৬ শতাংশ। আয় বৃদ্ধির পাশাপাশি এ সময়ে কোম্পানিটির লোকসানও কমেছে। কোম্পানিটির চলতি হিসাব বছরের তৃতীয় প্রান্তিকের (জানুয়ারি-মার্চ) অনিরীক্ষিত আর্থিক প্রতিবেদন সূত্রে এ তথ্য জানা গেছে। আর্থিক প্রতিবেদন অনুসারে, চলতি ২০২৪-২৫ হিসাব বছরের প্রথম তিন প্রান্তিকে ডেসকোর আয় হয়েছে ৫ হাজার ৪১০ কোটি ৫৮ লাখ টাকা, আগের হিসাব বছরে যা ছিল ৪ হাজার ৬৪৪ কোটি ১৫ লাখ টাকা। সে হিসাবে এক বছরের ব্যবধানে কোম্পানিটির আয় বেড়েছে ১৬ দশমিক ৫০ শতাংশ। আলোচ্য প্রান্তিকে ডেসকোর কর-পরবর্তী লোকসান হয়েছে ৭৮ কোটি ৫৫ লাখ টাকা, আগের হিসাব বছরে যা ছিল ২৭০ কোটি ৮২ লাখ টাকা। সে হিসাবে এক বছরের ব্যবধানে কোম্পানিটির লোকসান কমেছে ৭০ দশমিক ৯৯ শতাংশ।

গত কয়েক মাস ধরে রেমিট্যান্স ও রপ্তানিতে বড় প্রবৃদ্ধি থাকা, ব্যাংকগুলোর ওপর বকেয়া আমদানি বিল পরিশোধের চাপ ও ডলারের চাহিদা কমাসহ নানা কারণে টাকার বিপরীতে ডলারের দাম কমছে। গত বৃহস্পতিবার রেমিট্যান্সের ডলার কিনতে ব্যাংকগুলোকে ১২২.৫০ টাকা থেকে ১২২.৬০ টাকা রেট দিতে হয়েছে। অথচ চলতি মাসের দ্বিতীয় সপ্তাহেও রেমিট্যান্সের ডলার সংগ্রহে ব্যাংকগুলোকে ১২৩ টাকা থেকে ১২৩.২০ টাকা পর্যন্ত রেট দিতে হতো। অর্থাৎ দুই সপ্তাহের ব্যবধানে ডলারের দাম কমেছে ৫০ থেকে ৭০ পয়সা বা ০.৫০ শতাংশের বেশি। বেশ কয়েকটি ব্যাংকের নীতিনির্ধারণী কর্মকর্তারা পূর্বাভাস দিয়েছেন, সামনের দিনগুলোতে ডলারের দাম আরও কমার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। তারা বলছেন, আগামী কয়েক মাসে ডলারের চাহিদা বাড়ার বড় ধরনের কোনো সম্ভাবনা নেই। কারণ, বেশিরভাগ বিনিয়োগকারী নতুন বিনিয়োগ সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ার জন্য আগামী নির্বাচনের অপেক্ষা করছেন। ফলে বিনিয়োগ-সংক্রান্ত আমদানি বাড়বে না। অন্যদিকে রেমিট্যান্স ও রপ্তানির প্রবৃদ্ধি ভালো। এমন প্রবৃদ্ধি আগামী দিনগুলোতে বজায় থাকলে বাজারে ডলারের সরবরাহ আরও বাড়বে, যা দিনশেষে বিনিময় হার কমানোর ক্ষেত্রে ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে উল্লেখ করেন তারা। রেমিট্যান্স ও রপ্তানিতে শক্তিশালী প্রবৃদ্ধির কারণে ডলারের দাম কমছে মন্তব্য করে মিউচুয়াল ট্রাস্ট ব্যাংকের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক ও প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা সৈয়দ মাহবুবুর রহমান টিবিএসকে বলেন, বৈদেশিক মুদ্রাবাজার এখন আগের তুলনায় অনেক বেশি সহজ হয়ে এসেছে।

গোপালগঞ্জ ও যশোর আঞ্চলিক পাসপোর্ট অফিসের কাছে পাসপোর্ট ইস্যু ও নবায়ন ফির ওপর কর্তন করা প্রযোজ্য উৎসে মূল্য সংযোজন কর বা মূসকের (ভ্যাট) ৩৯ কোটি ৮ লাখ ৩৭ হাজার ৫৪২ টাকা পাওনা হয়েছে যশোর কাস্টমস, এক্সাইজ ও ভ্যাট কমিশনারেটের। ২০১৪ সাল থেকে এসব টাকা বকেয়া রয়েছে। এনবিআর সদস্যের (মূসক বাস্তবায়ন ও আইটি) কাছে যশোর কাস্টমস, এক্সাইজ ও ভ্যাট কমিশনারেট কমিশনার শেখ আবু ফয়সল মো. মুরাদের লেখা চিঠি সূত্রে এ তথ্য জানা গেছে।

চট্টগ্রাম কৃষি অঞ্চলে আমন মৌসুমে গত কয়েক বছর ধানবীজ উৎপাদন ও সংগ্রহ ঊর্ধ্বমুখী রয়েছে। তবে চলতি মৌসুমে কৃষি অঞ্চলের দুই জেলায় বীজ সংগ্রহ কমেছে। ২০২৩-২৪ অর্থবছরে রেকর্ড ৬১৬ টন আমন বীজ সংগ্রহ করা হলেও চলতি বছর ৫০০ টন সংগ্রহ করতে পেরেছে বাংলাদেশ কৃষি উন্নয়ন করপোরেশন (বিএডিসি)। বছরের ব্যবধানে সংগ্রহ কমেছে ১৮ দশমিক ৭৩ শতাংশ। এক মৌসুমের ব্যবধানে বীজ সংগ্রহ কমে আসাকে বড় ব্যর্থতা বলে মনে করছেন সংশ্লিষ্টরা। কৃষি বিশেষজ্ঞরা বলছেন, যদি সময়মতো মূল্য পরিশোধ, প্রণোদনা বা উৎপাদন সহায়তা বাড়ানো না হয়, তবে আগামী মৌসুমগুলোয় বীজ উৎপাদন সংকটে পড়তে পারে। একই সঙ্গে কৃষকদের উদ্বুদ্ধ করতে মাঠ পর্যায়ে প্রশিক্ষণ, মান নিয়ন্ত্রণ প্রক্রিয়া সহজীকরণ ও চুক্তি বাস্তবায়নে স্বচ্ছতা আনাও জরুরি হয়ে পড়েছে। এখনই সচেতন না হলে ভবিষ্যতে বীজ উৎপাদননির্ভরতা আরো বেড়ে যেতে পারে বলে আশঙ্কা রয়েছে।

জনশক্তি, কর্মসংস্থান ও প্রশিক্ষণ ব্যুরোর (বিএমইটি) ছাড়পত্র সংগ্রহের পরও বাংলাদেশ থেকে মালয়েশিয়ায় যেতে পারেননি ১৭ হাজার ৭৭৭ অভিবাসনপ্রত্যাশী। এর পেছনে রিক্রুটিং এজেন্সিরই সব দায় দেখছে প্রবাসী কল্যাণ ও বৈদেশিক কর্মসংস্থান মন্ত্রণালয় গঠিত কমিটি। বিচারপতি ফাহমিদা কাদের ও বিচারপতি মুবিনা আসাফের হাইকোর্ট বেঞ্চে গতকাল ওই কমিটির প্রতিবেদন উপস্থাপন করা হয়। এদিকে সব প্রক্রিয়া সম্পন্ন হওয়ার পরও মালয়েশিয়া যেতে না পারা শ্রমিকদের টাকা ফেরত দেয়ার বিষয়ে অগ্রগতি জানাতে মন্ত্রণালয়কে নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন হাইকোর্ট। আগামী ২৭ আগস্টের মধ্যে প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করে প্রতিবেদন দিতে বলা হয়েছে। আদালতে রিটের পক্ষে শুনানি করেন আইনজীবী তানভীর আহমেদ।
