Days after restoring tax incentives for renewable energy-based power producers for 10 years to attract potential investors, the government is now set to extend the tax-breaks for five more years to 15 years.Top government officials in a meeting Thursday decided that the power plants which will go into commercial operation between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2030 will enjoy cent-percent tax exemption for 10 years instead of a previous order of five years.

বর্তমানে আজওয়া আমদানিকৃত সব খেজুরের শুল্কায়ন মূল্য ধরা হয় কেজিতে ৪ ডলার। কোনো ব্যবসায়ী ২ ডলারে খেজুর কিনলেও ৪ ডলার শুল্কায়ন মূল্য ধরেই শুল্ক পরিশোধ করতে হয়।আগামী রমজানে খেজুরের দাম সহনীয় পর্যায়ে রাখতে আমদানি শুল্ক ও অগ্রিম আয়কর (এআইটি) কমানোর প্রস্তাব দিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ ট্রেড অ্যান্ড ট্যারিফ কমিশন। কমিশন গতকাল (১৪ নভেম্বর) তাদের সুপারিশসহ প্রস্তাবটি অর্থ মন্ত্রণালয়, বাণিজ্য মন্ত্রণালয় ও জাতীয় রাজস্ব বোর্ডে (এনবিআর) পাঠিয়েছে।সম্প্রতি এক প্রতিবেদনে খেজুর আমদানিতে আগাম আয়কর ১০ শতাংশ থেকে কমিয়ে ৩ শতাংশ, আগাম কর ৫ শতাংশ পুরোপুরি বাতিল এবং আমদানি শুল্ক ২৫ শতাংশ থেকে কমিয়ে ১৫ শতাংশ করার সুপারিশ করেছে ট্যারিফ কমিশন।

Bangladesh and Japan have agreed to sign the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) by the end of 2025 or early 2026 to deepen and expand bilateral trade and investment relations between the two nations. This was revealed on Wednesday at a ceremony to launch the 'EPA Study Report' at the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka, said a press release today.

The Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission has proposed reducing import duties and advance income taxes (AIT) on dates to keep prices affordable during the upcoming Ramadan. The Commission sent the proposal today (14 November), along with its recommendations, to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, and the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
