The World Bank will provide US$2.30 billion in assistance, including $750 million budgetary support, to Bangladesh this fiscal year (FY 2024-25), mainly to facilitate financial-sector reforms and recovery from flood damages, officials said on Thursday. A senior executive of the WB assured Bangladesh of the credit at separate meetings with Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus and Finance Advisor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in Dhaka on Thursday.

The process to participate in the auctions of Treasury bonds has been made more complicated, according to brokers, by the new securities commission for retail investors. The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on Wednesday issued a directive bringing some changes to the auction process. The central bank holds a primary auction of Treasury bonds every Tuesday.

The bank accounts of SK Trims and Industries Ltd, a producer of garment accessories, have been unfrozen following a stay order from the High Court, according to a company disclosure. Previously, on 14 September, the company had reported that its bank accounts were frozen by the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) under court orders. The freezing of the accounts was done based on a recommendation from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

সরকারনির্ধারিত দামের চেয়ে বেশি মূল্যে ডিম বিক্রি হচ্ছে রাজধানীর বাজারে। ১৫ সেপ্টেম্বর ফার্মের মুরগির ডিম এবং ব্রয়লার ও সোনালী মুরগির দাম নির্ধারণ করে দেয় কৃষি বিপণন অধিদপ্তর। নতুন ঘোষিত দর অনুযায়ী, খুচরা পর্যায়ে প্রতিটি ডিমের মূল্য ১১ টাকা ৮৭ পয়সা—অর্থাৎ প্রতি ডজন ডিমের দাম ১৪২ টাকা ৪৪ পয়সা নির্ধারণ করা হয়। আর খুচরা পর্যায়ে প্রতি কেজি ব্রয়লার মুরগির দাম ১৭৯ টাকা ৫৯ পয়সা ও সোনালী মুরগির দাম ২৬৯ টাকা ৬৪ পয়সা বেঁধে দেওয়া হয়। তবে সরেজমিনে দেখা গেছে, রাজধানীর বাজারে প্রতি ডজন ডিম বিক্রি হচ্ছে ১৬৫ টাকায়, যা নির্ধারিত দামের চেয়ে ২৩ টাকা বেশি।

বেনাপোলের কার্গো ভেহিকেল টার্মিনালটি আগামী অক্টোবর মাসে চালু হচ্ছে। এই টার্মিনালে একসঙ্গে প্রায় ১,২০০ থেকে ১,৫০০ ট্রাক রাখা যাবে। ফলে বন্দরে ট্রাকের মালামাল দ্রুত লোড-আনলোড সম্ভব হবে। এতে যানজট কমার পাশাপাশি সরকারের রাজস্ব আয়ও বাড়বে।।বাংলাদেশের সঙ্গে ভারতের সড়ক ও রেলযোগাযোগ সহজ হওয়ায় যশোরের বেনাপোল স্থলবন্দর দিয়ে বাণিজ্য বেড়েছে কয়েকগুণ। তার সঙ্গে পাল্লা দিয়ে বেড়েছে পণ্য পরিবহনের ভোগান্তিও। এ সংকট থেকে উত্তরণে এবং স্থলবন্দরের সক্ষমতা বৃদ্ধির জন্য বেনাপোলে 'কার্গো ভেহিকেল টার্মিনাল নির্মাণ' প্রকল্পটি গ্রহণ করা হয়।

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has taken strict measures against Sinha Securities Ltd, a brokerage firm, due to its failure to adjust the shortfall in clients' funds in the consolidated customers' account (CCA). In a meeting on 18 September, the commission decided to freeze all bank and beneficiary owner (BO) accounts of the company's directors, including the managing director and chief executive officer (CEO), according to BSEC sources.
