৬ হাজারের বেশি আন্তর্জাতিক শিক্ষার্থীর ভিসা বাতিল করল যুক্তরাষ্ট্র |
র্কিন স্টেট ডিপার্টমেন্ট জানিয়েছে, আইন লঙ্ঘন ও ভিসার মেয়াদ শেষ হওয়ায় তারা ৬ হাজারের বেশি আন্তর্জাতিক শিক্ষার্থীর ভিসা বাতিল করেছে। স্টেট ডিপার্টমেন্ট জানিয়েছে, এসব ভিসা বাতিলের কারণ ছিল হামলা, নেশাগ্রস্ত অবস্থায় গাড়ি চালানো, চুরি এবং 'সন্ত্রাসবাদে সহায়তা' করার মতো অভিযোগ। তবে 'সন্ত্রাসবাদে সহায়তা' বলতে ঠিক কী বোঝানো হয়েছে, তা স্পষ্ট করেনি কর্তৃপক্ষ। তবে ট্রাম্প প্রশাসন কিছু শিক্ষার্থীর বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবস্থা নিয়েছে যারা ফিলিস্তিনের পক্ষে বিক্ষোভ করেছেন। প্রশাসনের দাবি, তারা ইহুদিবিদ্বেষী আচরণ করেছেন। বিবিসির প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়, ট্রাম্প প্রশাসনের এই পদক্ষেপ ছিল অভিবাসন ও আন্তর্জাতিক শিক্ষার্থীদের বিষয়ে তাদের কঠোর অবস্থানের অংশ। বাতিল হওয়া ৬ হাজার ভিসার মধ্যে প্রায় ৪ হাজার ভিসা বাতিল হয়েছে আইন ভঙ্গের কারণে। আরও ২০০–৩০০ ভিসা বাতিল হয়েছে 'আইএনএ ৩বি'-এর আওতায়, অর্থাৎ 'সন্ত্রাসবাদী কার্যক্রমে' সম্পৃক্ত থাকার অভিযোগে। এই আইনে 'সন্ত্রাসবাদী কর্মকাণ্ড' বলতে এমন সব কার্যকলাপ বোঝানো হয়েছে যা মানুষের জীবনের জন্য হুমকিস্বরূপ বা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের আইনের পরিপন্থী। |

সাড়ে ৩৩ হাজার কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ের পরও নেমে গেছে প্রাথমিক শিক্ষার মান |
শিক্ষার্থীর শিক্ষাজীবনের ভিত তৈরি হয় প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে। এজন্য উন্নত দেশগুলোয় প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে মানসম্মত শিক্ষা নিশ্চিতে গুরুত্ব দেয়া হয়। বাংলাদেশেও প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা উন্নয়নের কথা বলে গত এক যুগে দুটি বৃহৎ প্রকল্পের আওতায় ব্যয় করা হয়েছে প্রায় সাড়ে ৩৩ হাজার কোটি টাকা। যদিও জাতীয় শিক্ষার্থী মূল্যায়ন প্রতিবেদনের তথ্য বলছে, প্রাথমিক শিক্ষার উন্নয়নে করা এ বিপুল ব্যয়ের প্রভাব পড়েনি শিক্ষার্থীদের পারফরম্যান্সে। বরং এ সময়ে কয়েকটি ক্ষেত্রে শিক্ষার্থীদের পারফরম্যান্সের আরো অবনতি ঘটেছে। |

Japan to provide $3.24m for primary education |
Japan government will provide a grant of US$ 3.24 million to Bangladesh for Fourth Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-4).
The programme is being implemented by the Directorate of Primary Education under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, a PID handout on Monday said.Agreements in this regard were signed between Bangladesh and Japan on December 19, reports BSS citing the handout.Secretary of the Economic Relations Division Md Shahriar Kader Siddiky, and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori and Chief Representative of JICA in Dhaka Ichiguchi Tomohide signed the instruments on their respective sides. |

A Tk 935-million project to strengthen Bangladesh's entrepreneurial ecosystem by enhancing entrepreneurship-education infrastructure and curricula at universities is awaiting the final nod from the government. With a theme of creative Bangladesh, the project was proposed by the Secondary and Higher Education Division. The Planning Commission has done the preparatory work to place the project proposal for final approval during Monday's (November 25) meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). |

কারিগরি শিক্ষাগ্রহণকারী ৮১ শতাংশের বেতন ১০ হাজার টাকার নিচে |
সরকারি বিভিন্ন কারিগরি প্রতিষ্ঠান থেকে শিক্ষা বা প্রশিক্ষণ শেষে দ্রুত চাকরি মিললেও বেতন অনেক কম পওয়া যায় বলে উঠে এসেছে বেসরকারি গবেষণা সংস্থা সেন্টার ফর পলিসি ডায়ালগের (সিপিডি) এক জরিপে।ওই জরিপে দেখা গেছে, কারিগরি শিক্ষা গ্রহণকারীর প্রায় ৮১.৪৮ শতাংশের বেতনই ১০ হাজার টাকার নিচে। এছাড়া, ১৫ হাজার থেকে ২৫ হাজার টাকার মধ্যে বেতন পান ১৪.৮১ শতাংশ, ৩০-৫০ হাজার টাকা বেতন পান ৩.৭০ শতাংশ। ৬০ হাজার টাকার উপরে বেতন পান এমন কাউকে পাওয়া যায়নি। |
